What Happened in Our Most Recent Cattle Sale?
Twenty-seven lots of Brahman, Brangus and Braford cattle, from cow/calf pairs to yearlings, sold over three days in October 2026. Every lot sold.
Who Bid
Sixty-three buyers registered from Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and Florida. The top lot, a cow/calf pair, drew 66 bids from six buyers, and nine lots had five or more buyers bidding.
How the Close Went
Bidding opened Monday morning and closed Wednesday evening. The last day brought 166 bids, 79 of them after 7 PM. Extended bidding kept the final lots open until 8:21 PM, about twenty minutes past the scheduled close, and nine of the 27 winning bids landed in that final stretch.
Text Alerts
Text alerts are an optional add-on, part of Livestock Auction Amplified, and this sale had them turned on. Thirteen of the 16 buyers who bid had signed up, and those 13 placed 82% of all the bids. After an outbid text, the buyer bid on that same lot again 7 times out of 10, usually within a few minutes. In the last two hours before the close, 68 texts went out and 79 bids came in. Every text was delivered, typically within 4 seconds of the bid that set it off.
Bidding From a Phone
Nearly three quarters of the auction activity during the sale came from phones. In the final hours, seven of every ten visits to the bidding page were on a phone.
The Platform by the Numbers
The same auction software also runs stallion service auctions for horse associations through our sister site, Stallion Auctions Online. In the 2025 season alone:
- 29 auctions
- $2.3M+ in sales
- 14,700+ bids
- 3,600+ registered bidders
Since we began tracking platform-wide totals in 2020, sales on the platform have passed $11 million. The software has been running online auctions since 2007.
Common Questions About Results
How much will our sale bring?
Nobody can promise that. It depends on your cattle, your buyers and how well the sale gets promoted. We are glad to talk through what other sellers have seen.
Do online sales bring more buyers?
They let buyers bid without traveling, and they give buyers days to bid instead of a few minutes. How many come depends on your cattle and how you promote the sale.
